
HiChale ,a Kalba based NGO has received a citation in recognition and appreciation of the organization dedication and distinguished services in its catchment areas.
This was presented to the organization by Sawla -Tuna Kalba District Director of the Ghana Health Services at the 2025 Annual Performance Review .
“This recognition affirms the power of partnership in strengthening rural healthcare delivery. The Garkuon CHPS initiative reflects what collaboration, commitment, and community trust can achieve”,the Managing Director of HiChale,Mr Dery Emmanuel wrote on his Facebook page.
He expressed gratitude to the Ghana Health Service, their partners, donors, and the communities they serve.
“Together, we continue to build stronger health systems across Northern Ghana.
With sustained partnership, the impact can go even further”,he noted.

HiChale is a community-based NGO operating in Northern Ghana (specifically the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and Wa East districts) dedicated to rural development.
Formed in 2023, it continues a 40-year partnership with German donors, focusing on improving healthcare, clean water access, education, and women’s empowerment through solar-powered infrastructure.
Key areas of impact by HiChale include:Healthcare Infrastructure:
Constructed modern CHPS compounds (community health clinics) and residential units for staff in areas like Garkuon and Saru, equipped with solar power and clean water.
Water and Sanitation: Built solar-powered mechanised boreholes in communities like Kalba and Jieyiri.
Women’s Empowerment & Agriculture:
Supported women’s groups in Funsi with fenced, irrigated gardens using solar technology for dry-season farming.
Education Support: Provided furniture to rural schools and supported vocational training for young women.
The NGO works in collaboration with partners such as the German Embassy Accra, Aktionskreis Pater Hagen, and local stakeholders to implement these projects.
