As one of the objectives of the Youth Association, reducing and promoting girl child education in the community and the District as a whole, Yarikoi – Mekaa Youth Association (YEMYA ) has sponsored the cost of prospectus and fees of two orphans into a Senior High School and Nursing Training College respectively.
The two orphans were miss Ediptey Vivian Gyarko and miss Sorbieltey Dorcas.
The two were both from the Yarikoi community.
The president of the Youth Association, Mr Edmund Sobaltey disclosed this to Yagbon News in an interview.
Miss Vivian Gyarko was sponsored into the Nurses and Midwifery Training College at Kubori in the Upper East Region while Sorbieltey Dorcas was admitted into Damango senior high school in the Savannah regional capital of Ghana.
YEMYA has therefore spent a total amount of six thousand ,four hundred Ghana cedis(6400.00) on the two ladies education.
The funding was from YEMYA Educational fund YEMYA monthly dues and from individual donations.
YEMYA has taken this move to encourage the girl child education and also to eliminate early marriages and teenage pregnancy in the community.
