Hon. Diorotey Vida, the DCE for Wa West District in the Upper West Region, on August 31, 2022, joined the chiefs and people of Batunuuryir to celebrate their mobile CHPS durbar.
The mobile CHPS system is an innovative initiative by the Ghana Health Service, which allows the service to station personnels in a community without Health facility, to attend to their primary health care needs .
Batunuuryir Mobile CHPS has a catchment coverage involving some four communities with the community as the center.
Opinion leaders who spoke before the Hon. DCE , including the Hon. Assembly member (Hon. Maxwell Kumah), and the Chief took the opportunity to enumerate various basic development amenities that the catchment area lacks and requires .
Roads, electricity and clean water dominated the demands.
As the subject matter of the gathering, Women leaders in the catchment area appealed for an urgent action on their demand for a permanent health facility.
Hon. Vida Dioretey in her speech took the opportunity to implored the chiefs to embrace her as their daughter, sister and wife , and thus guide and support her in her administration , as she is determined to work very hard to meet the development needs of the people of the Wa West District.
She acknowledged the development deficits as were enumerated by the opinion leaders prior to her speech and pledged to address each and everyone of them as soon as she gets the green light from central government.
She expressed optimism that she’ll get a permanent CHPS block for the zone before her administrative tenure expires.
As a temporary measure, she pleaded with the community to secure a spacious room for the nurse station there, and thereafter come for hospital bed for antenatal services.
This bed, she announced will come from her own purse and not the Assembly’s coffers.
The Hon. DCE also gave the good news of the adoption of the Wa West District as one of two Districts in the Region to enjoy a universal coverage by the LEAP program.
She said that officials from her office will soon go around for the registration of potential beneficiaries.
She thus encouraged the chiefs to help in mobilizing their people for the exercise, since the program will guarantee a monthly stipend for the relatively poor people in the area .
The Hon DCE took the people through the job specifications of the Assembly through the DCE as well as that of the MP.
She bemoaned the practice where, for political market share , people run round claiming responsibility for things they can do very little about.
The MP; Hon. Toobu Peter, who was represented by Mr. Vaari Matthew and some two others.
