Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah the Savannah Regional Minister on behalf of the good people of Yapei expressed deep felt appreciation to His Excellency the President for fulfilling a promise he made to the good people of Yapei during the 2016 electioneering campaign. Hon. Braimah acknowledged how the water project is going to end the perennial water crisis in Yapei and its surrounding communities.
This was made when the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has on Monday, July 27, 2020 commission the Yapei water project at Yapei in the Savannah region.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief of Yapei, Yapei Wura Alhassan Soale III, some Minister’s of State, Heads of various Agencies and Departments and other stakeholders.
The Minister couldn’t end his address without painfully recounting in the unfortunate incident that has taken the country by storm and subsequently succeeded in taking away the shine of some historic achievements that were accomplished in the past week.
“Mr. President, it is with a heavy heart I report on the cruel and despicable lynching of Madam Akua Dente a 90 years old lady at Kafaba, near Salaga by a very callous fetish Priestess in the name of witchcraft on 23rd July, 2020. The killing of Madam Akua Denteh is very emotional and Mr. President, personal to me because, this killing is a big blot on Savannah, your baby Region”. The minister added
With the President’s permission, the minister asked all to be upstanding and observe a minute silence for our beloved late mother/grandmother Mama Akua Denteh.
“Mr. President, on this auspicious day, Savannah Coordinating Council has set up “a Mama Akua Denteh Foundation” in honour and memory of the slain woman and to say to the world, never again! ”. Hon. Salifu Braimah announced.
Hon. Salifu further highlighted on the measures being employed to get the perpetrators apprehended, by saying, “Mr. President, I can report that the police are on the heels of the perpetrators of this heinous crime. Tremendous progress has been made towards the apprehension, and prosecution of these people”.
