The Secretary of Small Scale Miners Association in the Bole District, Mr Mahama Tahiru has lamented on the actions Government regarding mining activities in Bole District.

He said they need the government to do a blocked -out of the areas for easy access of concessions.

Regrettably however is not so making the sector difficult to do business.

The mining administrator said this during a round table annual appraisal under the UK-Ghana Gold programme in the Bole District.

He regrettably stated that only Dakurpe and Tinga have a mining license among the mining communities in Bole District.

He however said it is unfortunate that Government blocked -out Sonyo which is not a popular mining area.

Among other mining communities in the District including Dollar power, Kui, Banda Nkwanta, Cloff, Contori should be areas that should be blocked -out.

The minner explained that blocked out can only be done at where mining is taking place with all evidence that there is gold.

Mr Mahama Tahiru said the government overlooks all these opportunities for small holder miners and goes ahead to give out these areas for prospective mining .

He said the painful part is when a small scale miner apply for a concession he is denied because there is no blocked out in the area.

Adding that Dakurpe and Tinga had their licence because they applied as community but for individuals they would have been denied.

Mr Tahiru said it is unfortunate as no one wants to be involved in illegality but these actions by the government warrant the illegality.
