This was disclosed to Yagbon Radio News when the production team on Green leaf program under GESSIP visited their a cowpea demonstration farms.

Stating the appeal on behalf of the group, Community Based Adviser (CBA), of the group Mr. Kwabena Nwinechorbe Jeremiah, explained that the farms are just 10×5m and 5×5m. How many products can come out of this cowpea demonstration farms? He quized.

The GESSIP group in Seripe is made up of 40 farmers with 2 men and 38 Women.

Mr. Jeremiah explained that it is unfortunate the current farming comes with a lot of used chemicals during the land preparation.

But explained that the farmer has no option because labour is a challenge, the land type will not give farmers access to tractors.

Farmers are left with no option but to use these chemicals that does not promote proper agronomic practices.

The Agric Extension Agent for Seripe Mr. Haruna Sandow, expressed his worry over the excess use of agro chemicals in current agricultural practices.

He encouraged farmers to use organic chemicals for farming that will promote good agronomic practices.

He tasked farmers in the District to venture into cowpea cultivation as there is ready market for the product.
