The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency has emphasised that the party will resist attempts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Damongo to intimidate them in the upcoming 2024 elections more especially in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency.

In a press statement issued by the party and signed by Mahamadu Eddie Adams an Electoral Area Coordinator for Jelinkon, it states that “it has come to our attention that Hon. Abu Jinapor has abandoned his constituency and is now actively campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate, Ankaara Sankaara, and Presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia, in our constituency. This is a clear indication of desperation and disregard for the people of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba”.

Below is the full release;

Condemning the Meddling of Hon. Abu Jinapor in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency wishes to express its utmost disappointment and disgust at the recent actions of the Member of Parliament for Damango Constituency and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Abu Jinapor.

It has come to our attention that Hon. Abu Jinapor has abandoned his constituency and is now actively campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate, Ankaara Sankaara, and Presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia, in our constituency. This is a clear indication of desperation and disregard for the people of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba.

We question whether Hon. Abu Jinapor has solved all problems in his own constituency, Damango, and is now promising heaven and earth to our constituents. Meanwhile, his own constituency cries out for basic necessities like water. Does he think his money can buy the conscience of voters in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba?

Recently, Hon. Abu Jinapor invited some revered chiefs of the Vagla tribe from our constituency to his personal residence, making lofty promises and tasking them to convince their people to vote for Ankaara and the NPP. As if he never becomes tired of disrespecting chiefs, our Intel also has it that he Abu Jinapor has extended yet another of such disrespectful invitation to the Brifor traditional leadership. We view this action as disrespecting to our chiefs and an affront to the dignity of the said highly respected chiefs and by extension all Constituents .

He Abu Jinapor was the very person accused of haven imposed a District chief executive on the same people of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency against their preference according to a cross section of the NPP youth in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District through a press conference. This was led by the current communication director of the New Patriotic party of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.

What at all does he Abu Jinapor want from us? Since when has he become a panacea to the problem of the very people whom he denied their choice of a DCE few years ago? This is a question for the gods.

Before the inception and the existence of party politics in our land, there was already a system of rule where chiefs and elders are highly respected. If he Abu Jinapor, supported by some NPP bigwigs and executives in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba have normalized a culture where the young can sit and call chiefs to their personal abodes as if there were children in such a manner, then it is ethically unfortunate and condemnable by all.

This failed government, led by the NPP, has neglected the people of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba since assuming power. Now, with weeks to the crucial 2024 general elections, they assemble here to deceive our people. This again is a manifestation that the NPP in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba has either presented a bad candidate or failed to deliver. We will not be swayed by empty promises and state monies stored in polytanks, meant to deceive and manipulate.

We warn Hon. Abu Jinapor to focus on his own constituency, Damango, where the NDC, through our Parliamentary candidate, Mutawakilu aka Garlus, is poised to win back the seat. His meddling in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba will not yield the desired results.

Our constituents are resolute in their choice, and we will massively vote for our Parliamentary candidate, Hon. Andrew Dari Chewitey, and Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

Hon. Andrew Dari Chewitey’s numerous developmental projects across our constituency, even as an opposition MP, have earned him the trust and loyalty of his people which puts him ahead of his lost in arrival opponent.

We demand that Hon.Abu Jinapor:

1. Stop disrespecting our Vagla and other chiefs in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency

2. Ceases his meddling in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency immediately.

3. Focus on addressing the pressing needs of his own constituency, the good people of Damango needs water to drink.

4. Refrain from using state resources to manipulate voters in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba.
