On Saturday, 11th November, 2023, in a remarkable display of commitment to promoting girls’ soccer and empowering young female athletes, the District Football Association Chairman of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Mr. Alhassan Abdul Raman Nyariba took a significant step towards leveling the playing field by presenting to Tuna Saako Ladies Sporting Club with a brand new soccer ball and a set of jerseys.

The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Football Association has been actively championing initiatives to foster gender equality within the realm of sports especially football. Recognizing the untapped potential and talents of young girls, this latest endeavor is set to bring about a positive and transformative change within the district.

The presentation ceremony, held at Tuna Senior High School Park was attended by members of the local football community, coaches, players, and other sports officials.

Mr Nyariba, renowned for his unwavering commitment to youth development, highlighted the importance of providing equal opportunities for girls in sports.

He emphasized the need to break down societal barriers and stereotypes while fostering an environment that encourages young girls to pursue their passion for soccer.

The symbolic gesture signifies the District Football Association’s commitment to nurturing talent from a grassroots level.

The Chairman emphasized that the equipment would not only provide the necessary resources for the team but also served as a catalyst for inspiring other girls in the District to take up soccer.

Tuna Saako Ladies, an enthusiastic and determined group of young girls with a shared love for the beautiful game, were overjoyed by the Chairman’s gesture.

The team’s coach, Mr. Vaglikori Kipo Major expressed her gratitude on behalf of the entire team, emphasizing how the support would motivate the young girls to work harder and pursue their dreams of becoming successful footballers.

Chairman Nyariba and his entourage encouraged parents, schools, and communities at large to support and encourage girls to participate in sports, emphasizing the numerous benefits ranging from physical well-being to character building.

With that visionary step, the District Football Association has laid the foundation for a brighter and more equitable future in sports.

As Tuna Saako Ladies proudly don their new jerseys and took to the field with a renewed sense of confidence, they represented the countless other young girls who would now have the opportunity to pursue their dreams in the world of soccer.

‘Together, let us celebrate this milestone and continue to empower young girls, for their success is not only a victory for them but also for our entire district’. Mr Nyariba remarked.
