Residents at Bale, of the Bole District of the Savannah Region are calling on the government to as a matter of urgency, to reconstruct the Bale bridge in the community to enable free movement of the people.
Following the recent heavy downpour, the bridge has been flooded, leaving scores of residents stranded at the river bank as they are unable to cross over for fear of losing their lives.
Former Assemblyman for Bale Electoral Area, David Kawuro Kwesi, therefore, joins the appeal to the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole-Bamboi, Hon. Yusif Sulemana to help construct the bridge and work on the Bole-Chache road.
“I want to appeal to the ruling government, including the DCE and the MP to come to the aid of Bale to help reconstruct the bridge at Bale ”
He further called for assistance from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to also support in their small ways.
Monday, September 19, have left commuters of the road stranded at both ends as the road was heavily flooded.
Farmlands around the area were equally not spared by the floods.
The incident has since caused fear in many, leaving them stranded with their goods, motorcycles and vehicles at the bank of the river.
Another resident, Mr Libijie alias Seven thirty, expressed worry over challenges pupils face crossing. He said it was risky.
‘The pupils suffer a lot during the rainy season, especially in August and September. Anytime the pupils get to that side of the road they are force to return home.
As at the time of filling this report,a lot of vehicles were still stranded at both ends of the road.
