Youth of Bole on Saturday stormed the streets of the town to call for the Government attention to the increasing spate of insecurity in the town.

The protest was a reaction to the recent unexplained killing of three people in the town within a space of one month.

The peaceful protest, championed by the concerned citizens of Bole began at Agabuto to Junction to the Police Headquarters Area to Jakala Mango Lane) to Bole Station and back to Agabuto.

The demonstration dubbed ” stop Bole killings now” sought to draw the attention of authorities and stakeholders to the bizarre and unexplained killings in Bole town.

And to demand an end to these barbaric killings to restore peace and security in Bole as well as demand answers and accountability from those in charge of maintaining peace and security in Bole.

The demonstrators petitioned the Minister of Interior, Henry Quartey, over the recent serial killings in the Bole area.

We the Concerned Citizens of Bole, through this petition, seek to register our utmost displeasure and disappointment at the lacklustre behaviour and inaction of the Ghana Police Service in the face of a clear security threat that has claimed 20 precious lives in the Bole Community and Bole administrative District.”, they revealed

According to the youth, they witnessed very lately how the Ghana Police Service swiftly responded to the murder cases in Jirapa in the Upper West Region, and Maame Krobo in the Eastern Region of our country and constantly provided updates for the same cases.

“This is a clear case of unfairness and selective application of the rules which begs the question of whether some people are more Ghanaian than others. The Residents of Bole are now living in a sketchy environment contemplating who will be the next victim.

We are no longer safe in our community and cannot go about our normal routines without fear of consequences.”

The Conveners of the concerned citizens of Bole indicated that the petition is aimed at drawing the attention of the Interior Minister to the serial killings in the Bole District and to demand swift action from your outfit to restore peace, order, and hope in their community.

They added that it is again to demand a comprehensive account from his men on the 20 murder cases in the Bole Districts and the progress made so far and the assurance that perpetrators will be brought to justice as well as a request for a security beef up in the Bole District in terms of personnel and logistics to ensure effective policing in their town which has sadly become a den of serial killers.

“To demand that the people of Bole be carried along the investigation process where constant updates and statements will be issued as it is done in similar cases.  We demand that justice should be served without fear or favor. Anyone allegedly involved in these heinous crimes, regardless of status or class should not be left off the hook in the dispensation of justice.”, the conveners demanded.
