Mr Backah Peter, a Welfare Officer of the Bole District Education Directorate and Mr Dari Peter, a teacher have urged parents to take the moral training of their children seriously, since it is indispensable in national development.
They explained that moral training helped the youth to be patriotic, respectful and law-abiding so that they can uphold human dignity and traditional values, as well as preserve national assets.
They made the observation on July 16,2022, when they appeared on Yagbon radio local program dubbed” Jaanuor Buur” on the topic “Why do children these days disrespect elders”?
The two panelists also urged parents to instil moral training in their children and continue to teach them the righteous way of life. They said constant practice, perseverance and guidance, especially for the youth, produced perfection.
They also admonished parents to respect their children and encourage them instead of hurling insults at them.
According to them delinquent behaviour of the youth stemmed from some parents’ neglect of their responsibilities such as over-pampering, where the child always wanted attention from parents.
They, therefore, urged parents to be steadfast and must live righteously for their children to emulate them.
They said moral education imparted into children, a sense of politeness and lawfulness.
According to them people with a solid internal sense of right and wrong were less easily coerced by others, especially in school where peer pressure could be intense.
They urged parents to exhibit true love, understanding and tolerance for their children to enable them live peacefully and harmoniously.
