The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Salaga South Constituency, Hajia Zuweira Ibrahimah, has renovated a facility to serve as an isolation centre for the Salaga government hospital.
Even though the Savannah region is yet to record a case, hospitals have been putting in measures to contain the virus in case of outbreak in the region.
The provision of isolation centers is one such initiative.
Hajia Zuweira Ibrahima in her bid renovated a three-bedroom isolation center for the Salaga hospital.
At a short ceremony to hand over the block, Secretary to the party Alhaji Yussif Hairat said the parliamentary candidate was touched when she heard the hospital does not have an isolation center.
He said as a woman who has foresight in the health of her people, she decided to remedy the situation.
“This is in response to a request by hospital management after several followups to the Assembly proved futile , he added.
The chairman of the hospital management committee Champowura Tanko Harruna expressed gratitude to the parliamentary candidate for the gesture.
He called for more support in the fight against the novel virus.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Prosper Nuri said the intervention was timely and appropriate.
He added the project will benefit the hospital even after COVID-19.
“We as a facility are grateful to Hajia Zuweira for promptly responding to a call in the fight against the novel virus”, he added.
Ghana as at today has recorded 287 COVID- 19 cases with 5 reported deaths.
