Mankuma R/C Junior High School in the Bole Municipal Assembly of the Savannah Region held its 1st Speech and Prize Given Day Ceremony on Wednesday 20th November 2024 at the school premises.
The theme for the occasion is “The Education Of A Child Is A Collective Responsibility”
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Michael Tanye Speaking at the occasion stated that Mankuma R/C JHS was established in the year 2004 to ease the burden of students commuting out of the community for post primary education and the school started with Mr. Tam Lambert as the pioneering Headmaster but now of blessed memory, He was supported by other able colleagues to begin imparting knowledge and values to a few students for its start.
Mr. Michael Tanye, Noted that the school gained autonomy in terms of BECE status in 2008 thereby producing its first batch of BECE graduates in that year.
Since its establishment, many students who passed through the school performed well and proceeded to become successful today.
So other Headteachers continued the good work, notably among them were, Mr, Inusa Alhassan, Chief Seidu Amadu Philip, Mr Mohammed, Mr Amadu Nashirudeen then I took over as the of this school in 2022, and so he appreciate all that they did in their time to churn out good products for society.
Talking about the success of the school the Headmaster mentioned that the school has produced thousands of Students many of whom are now successful on their own and greatly contributing to national development in all sectors of the country and economy.
“I am reliably informed that our products are found in almost every sector, making it difficult for me to present figures to that effect the school coincidentally marks 20 years of existence today” he said
The headmaster enumerated challenges faced by the school mentioned that the school has a population of 158 teacher population on the other hand is six (6)and therefore on the average the students population has exceeded the normal student to teacher ratio on subject basis and also the he school building also needs to be worked on and they also needs an ICT Laboratory to aid teaching and learning.
The Deputy Coordinating Director of Bole Assembly speaking on behalf of the MCE for Bole Madam Veronica commended the headteacher and the teachers of the school for organizing such an occasion, so the theme of the occasion is Educating a child is a collective responsibility and all shareholders have a role to play to make Education in the Municipal very seriously.
The MCE added that as an Assembly they have done their best by providing infrastructure and other materials and the Municipal Director of Education will bare them out that they have making more effort to improve teaching and learning in the Municipal.
The Director of Education for Bole Municipal Assembly, Mr Richards Sepaga speaking at the occasion appeal to parents to take it upon themselves to see how they can contribute effectively towards the education of their children ,so at the end of the day they become holistic beings interms of moral, hard working, respect for the them selves and others.
Mr. Richard added that the future really on our children education and with education we can break the bond of poverty in the North
The Director urge the students to take their studies very serious so they become future leaders.
The also presented Citations to some key persons and students of the school.
Traditional leaders, the Assembly member, opinion leaders, Community members and students of various schools were all present to grace the occasion.
