The Regional Minister for the Savannah Region, Mr. Muhazu Jibril has asked the youth of the party in the Region to exercise patience in their expectation for jobs in the formal sector.

He advised that while they expected jobs in the formal sector, they should also explore “youth-friendly” opportunities created by the government to initiate private schemes for themselves.

He said the increment of taxes in the 2021 budget is to boost job creation in the country which will enable government to employ Ghanaians into the public sector.

Mr Jibril who was addressing a Regional Youth forum of the party in the Savannah held at Damongo on April 2, 2021, on the theme ” Empowering the youth through job creation, the role of our leaders” said that, the NPP government had started implementing some positive interventions, which the youth of the Savannah will not be left out.

He asked the youth to consider themselves as the pillars of the party and said new policies being rolled out would eventually benefit them.

He advised the youth to be steadfast and work for the party because with time they will be rewarded.

Hon. Sulemana Iddrisu (Prof. Kalomonia), Regional Chairman of the party speaking at the forum indicated that the role of the youth in the party cannot be underrated and hence the need to address their concerns.

He said it’s through the youth efforts of the party that had helped the party to clinch three seats out of the seven seats in the Region.

“We were having only one seat in the Savannah region before the December 2020 elections but due the hardwork and dedication of the youth to duty, today the NPP has 3 seats including the powerful Damongo seat which many doubted”, he said amist clapping and cheering.

The Chairman then implored the youth not to feel dumped but their days of repayment for their hardwork are reckoning.

The Savannah Regional Youth Organizer, Mr Mahama Raphael Akati, charged the government to tackle youth unemployment with all seriousness in order to give hope to the youth .

According to him the NPP government led by President Akufo Addo, must not pay lip service to issues of youth unemployment in the Savannah Region as he said the youth over whelmingly voted for the NPP in the 2020 elections leading the party to obtain three seats for the first time as the Region is observed to be a stronghold of the opposition NDC party.

He said giving jobs to the youth would go along way to boost their morale and keep their stay in the party.

The youth Commander urged the youth to take advantage of government’s” planting for food and jobs” policy as he said youth in the Region have began patronizing the policy.

He added that the youth Wing of the party have developed a database which has all youth groups captured with the aim of identifying youth groups which are unemployed in the Region.

Dr.Clifford Braimah, CEO of Ghana Water Company Limited, also urged the youth of the party whose expectations of the government are not met , to be patient as the government is working assiduously to satisfy their needs.

He noted that, the youth have an important role to play by actively supporting activities of the government to need.

Speaking on the theme, he said it was appropriate and there is the need to ameliorate the suffering of the youth who have laboured for the party and yet unemployed.

Mr Akati urged the youth to desist from internal wrangling and work harder to enable the party realize its vision.
