Hundreds of jubilant of fans of the champions – elect of the Northern Regional Division Two lined up on the main street of Sawla to welcome home the galant players and officials of the Sawla -Tuna- Kalba Stars.

STK Stars emerged champions of the just ended Northern Regional Football Association Division Two Middle which began on Thursday 23rd September and ended on Monday 27th September,2021 in Tamale.

The Savannah Regional sub middle league champions battled with two teams from Tamale namely : Tamale Dreams FC(the pre tournament favourite), Zawara FC, Savelugu Yoo FC from Savelugu and Sankara Nationals from Yendi.

Having beaten Sankara Nationals and Dreams FC, STK stars unfortunately lost 0-4 to Zawara FC but the players and their handlers did not lose. They took on Yoo FC in the must win game on Monday and maintained their focus even though the first half ended goaless. In the second half STK Stars was rightly awarded a penalty after a player of Yoo FC deliberately prevented the ball from entering the net with his hand. Unfortunately, the supporters of Yoo FC ran into the field and brought the game to an abrupt end.

STK Stars subsequently, filed a protest and sooner than later they would be awarded three points that will put them level on points with Dreams FC but having beaten Dreams in the match between the two teams, STK Stars are thus champions and will play in the Division One this season and also the famous MTN FA Cup.

After arriving in Sawla, the team moved the Sawlawura’s palace where they were welcomed back home traditionally by the Sawlawura and officially by the DCE.
