The National Democratic Congress in Savannah region on Tuesday morning September 17, joined other regions to protest against the Electoral Commission of Ghana for refusing to heed to their demands ahead of 2024 election.

The demonstration forms part of the nationwide protest announced by the national executives concerning their call for an independent auditor into the national electoral roll for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Despite an appeal by the Electoral Commission to the leader of the opposition party to speak to the leadership of the party to have a round table discussion with the commission the opposition still insisted that until their demands are not met and hence they went on the demonstration.

In the capital of Savannah Region saw party members held plycards and marched through the principal street of Damongo and later presented a petition to the regional Electoral Commission office.

Addressing party supporters after the demonstration , the regional secretary Hon Biawurbe said the individual whose name we’re not known to have been registered or transferred but were found in the register

The Regional scribe alleged that there is DMB up that can be used to delete names in the register . He said some people have done it and it worked.

He said they don’t trust the Electoral Commission to deal with all these so they need an independent auditor to do that and it must be done now before the election because the day closer.

He said this must be dealt with for the peace of the country because when chaos start no military or police force can contain the situation .

The regional youth committee chairman of the opposition party Hon Yusif Sulemana expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the demonstration.

He said the attendance shows that they cannot be taken for granted for that matter they can’t cheat and said last that the election there were illegal transfers which affected the party’s fortune and this time they will never accept these illegalities .

They bused voters from their less strong holds to their potential strong hold to cheat and called on party members to come out and vote and also stay to monitor the process ,he noted.

The MP for Bole- Bamboi sent a strong warning to the security that he has no business with them as far as harassment is concerned .

He call on the peace council to do the needful as in 2015 and 2020 by calling on the EC to allow for an independent audit of the register.

If Electoral Commission thinks they can take the NDC for granted by subverting the will of the people , we will use all legitimate means to win the election .

He concluded by saying because they think John Mahama is a peaceful person so they can do anything and go away scout free, he wants to remind them that he born a a warrior but very calm but if provoked he will strike.
