The Ghanaian Language Students’ Association of the Department of Language and Communication Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has honored Issah Zakariah Jnr who for the past one year has had his internship at Yagbon radio in Bole as the first student of BA. Media and Communication Studies to lead the association and the department as the President.

During a dinner, awards and handing over ceremony on Saturday, 3rd September, 2022 at OJampa Hotel in Kumasi, Issah Zakariah Jnr was adjudged the most efficient elected executive of the year and one of the best presidents with an excellent administration of the department since its inception.

The patron of the association and a lecturer at the Department of Language and Communication Sciences-KNUST, Nana Appiah George, eulogized the contribution of Issah Zakariah Jnr to the development of the association and department as a whole.

“It is a decade now since I was made the patron of this association and Zack is one of the finest gentleman I have ever come across. A very humble student leader who always consulted before undertaking projects. You are one of the best presidents I have worked with if not the best of all”, Nana Appiah George stated.

He added saying, “your humility made you win the heart of the student body and made you a president with an excellent administration. Upon your inauguration as the president of this association, the department had just two projectors but before you left office you procured additional two modern-day projectors to aid teaching and learning. You raised the bar high and left a great legacy and I wish you well in your future endeavors”.

In a thank you speech, Issah Zakariah Jnr, noted that he couldn’t have achieved this great feat without the support from the department’s management and the cooperation of the student body and the 2021/2022 executive board.

He further thanked God and assured the new crop of executives for the department and the student body of his unwavering support whenever he is called upon.

Among his achievements included the procurement of projectors and other pedagogical equipment for the department, winning of the inter-departmental sports competition as part of the Faculty of Social Science 51st Week Celebration, provision of internship slots for students, an embarkment of an educational-fun trip to the north, Level-Up Leadership seminar, mentorship programme for students, establishment of a student data-base, provision of souvenirs to students among others.
