The president of the Dagaaba Youth Association of the Sawla- Kalba- Kalba District Mr. Zoyaari John has passionately appealed to political leaders in the area
to eschew negative acts that have the tendency to disrupt the peace and development of the District.
He stressed the need for politicians to champion issues that would develop the area for the benefit of all citizens.
“Our political leaders should make sure that politics would not create enmity and cause division among us as a people as we go into an elections in December, 2020, Let peace reign supreme,” the President stated at Sawla during the first Annual Congress of the Dagaaba Youth Association.
“I will appeal to political party leaders to work towards deepening the peace and unity of this District to boost proper development to enhance the lives of the citizenry,” he emphasized.
According to the president the politics of insults and name-calling have not helped the area in anyway.
This, according to him, has stalled growth and development.
He said Ghanaians are one people with a common destiny and so politicians should not allow their quest for political power to divide us.
The event was held under the theme ” peace and unity, the role of the Dagaaba Youth in Community Development “.
He reiterated that Dagaaba’s are generally peace lovers and will contribute their part to sustaining the long lasting peace in the area.
The President of the Association told the gathering that Dagaaba’s are hardworking and that the District Assembly through the DCE should always give equal opportunities to all the youth in the area if the need arises.
Mr.Zoyaari thanked all the revered chiefs of the Gonja land for the peaceful co- existence that exists among and promise to cement such relationship’s.
The Association born on May 4, 2019 has soon risen with membership cut across the Savannah Region to the Wa West of the Upper West Region.
The event was graced by the Traditional authorities of the Gonja and Vagla, Ho.Veronica Alele Heming DCE for people who represented the Regional minister, Hon. Dari Chiwitey Andrew, MP for the area,Mr.Banasco Seidu Nuhu, Parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the constituency, Rtd.Peter Lanchene Toobu, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Wa West constituency, party chairmen and their executives and Dagaaba’s from all walks of life.
