The Bole brach of Cashew Traders and Exporters Association Ghana (CETAG), has officially been Inaugurated at the Bole Municipal Assembly in the Savannah Region on Thursday 28 November 2024.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Deputy Coordinating Director On behalf of the MCE Hon. Veronica Alele for Bole charged the new executives to leave to the expectation of all the members of the Association.

“We appealing to the security agencies to also play their role effectively, so if they guard our borders and do their work well it will ensure the security of our trades and also help them carry out their business” she said.

Speaking to Yagbon News after the inauguration, the Executive Director of Cashew Council Ghana, Mr. Agyarko Mintah, stated that one of the reasons that Ghana Cashew production seems to be going down is that in reality it’s not that the production is going down but what we have is foreigners invading the market and also joining some of the farmers on the field to harvest for them and selling the Cashew un-dry.

Mr Agyarko Mintah, noted that, this is affecting the quality of the Cashew and it is also taking a lot of Ghanian Aggregators out of business.

“As we speak today we have over thousands seven hundred registered aggregators and traders of which around 30% are foreigners”

So this 30% have taken over the business because they go to the farmers field not only to buy what the farmers have harvested but they even help them sometimes to do the di-touching of the nuts from the from the trees and they buy it at the wet weight.

The Director also added that, the interesting is that they buy it even higher than the official prize of the dry weight.

” Today we are here to Inaugurate the Bole Traders And Exporters Association Ghana (CETAG), we want this to be a Ghanaian own business and so this Association in Bole are going to support in the buying and quality management of the Cashew nut”. He said

Again they are trying to link this traders to their processes and then the processes can get work to do.

Mr. Alhassan Abdallah, the secretary of Cashew Traders And Exporters Association Ghana (CETAG) Bole Branch, mentioned that he is happy that the association has been officially inaugurated.

Mr Abdallah added that anyone dealing in the Cashew business should try to register as a member and so the registration is of two types that is the membership and also tree crop Authority.

So anyone who did not register as a member will not be able to buy or trade in the Cashew business this year and also that person stand the risk of loosing your job and which can lead to the closing down of your business.

The Secretary noted that, Tree Crop Authority, Cashew Council and Cashew Traders And Exporters Association Ghana (CETAG)has now come together to enforce the laws governing the Cashew business.

So any foreigner who invades the the market or if you are not a member of the association don’t have the right to trade in the Cashew business.
