The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area,Sarfo KutegeFeso (l), has urged traditional leaders to throw their weight behind the campaign against drug abuse, warning that the fight cannot be won by law enforcement agencies alone.

He said the growing threat of illicit drugs posed a serious danger to the country’s future, particularly the youth, and therefore called for the active involvement of traditional rulers in raising awareness and offering community support.

Mr. Mohamed Abdulai, Registrar of the Bole Traditional Council delivered a speech on behalf of Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) at the launch of the fight against drugs abuse and environmental degradation by the Council of State Member for Savannah Region,H.E Alhaji Abudu Sampson at Bole SHS on February 11, 2026.

He mentioned that drug abuse remains one of the greatest threats to the future of our young people and the development of our communities and so this initiative is therefore timely and commendable.

“I applaud Tingawura for the vision, commitment, and courage to lead this effort, and I commend Bole Senior High School for opening its doors to such an impactful and educative program”.

Bolewura added that drug abuse in Ghana has become a significant public health, socioeconomic and security crisis with a high prevalence of substance use particularly alcohol, cannabis, tramadol among young people and this is often driven by peer pressure, and easy accessibility.

“Again our youth are the backbone of tomorrow and It is my sincere hope that the lessons shared will empower students to make responsible choices, resist negative influences, and embrace values that promote discipline, good health, and purpose-driven lives.”

The environment is not something separate from us, it is where we live, study, farm, trade and raise our families, and so when we pollute our environment, we are harming ourself.

Let Bole Senior High School be known not only for academic excellence but also for disciplined students and a clean, healthy environment.

As a traditional authority, I Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (I) reaffirm my support for all initiatives that seek to protect and guide our young people towards a brighter future.

Together traditional leaders, educators, parents, and civil society we can build a community free from the dangers of drug abuse.

I wish Tingawura, Bole Senior High School, and all participants a successful and impactful program. May the knowledge gained here today inspire lasting positive change.

Mr. Richard Achinaini the education director for Bole district stated that we cannot be thinking of a brighter future for this country when most of our youth today are gradually destroying themselves with certain substances they claim it helps them to learn.

My student please whatever is going to take place here let’s take it very serious, there is no way that you can go further when you start destroying yourself mentally, phycologically and emotionally.

Most of you have started taken substances that you claim are good for learning, they are poisonous to your health.

“So I urge you the students to take your studies serious and also stop following bad friends”.

Present at the program were, security personnel, health professionals, opinion leaders and some staff of the Bole SHS.
