The football fraternity of the sister districts Bole and Sawla-Tuna -Kalba is in a state of shock over the demise of one of their key actors Mr Abdul-Rasheed Amadu.
The young but experienced referee met his untimely death in a motor accident between Bole and Sawla on Tuesday April 21 2020. He was on the bike with one Mr Alhassan Mohammed Iddi, aka Gomua.
They hit the trailer of an over spending long vehicle which made a wrong overtaking at a curve around Bodi resulting in the accident. Mr Alhassan who survived and said to be responding to treatment is a key member of the STK FA and a former player of STK stars.
Until his demise, Rashid was an active member of the STK Football Association and the leader of of the Referees’s Committee. The former Wa Dark Horses and Sawla United player also played and Captained STK Stars took his passion to football to another level by becoming a referee. Having officiated many school games not because he was a teacher but because of knowledge and experience in the game. He and some of his colleagues were engaged by then Haadi led Bole Football Association to officiate in the maiden edition of the Division Three league in Bole. He also officiated similar games in Sawla and other palaces.
It was therefore not surprising when both the STK and Bole Football Associations in separate massages expressed shock and disbelieve over his passing. They also asserted that his demise is a huge lost to the two districts and Savannah Region as a whole.
