Hon. Kontunotey Isaac Maamuul, Assemblyman for the Nakwabi electoral area in the Sawla-Tuna- Kalba District has appealed to the government to construct an ’emergency’ classroom block at Miiwanteng, a farming community in the area.

This is to avert an imminent closure of the school next academic year.

He explained that the an uncompleted structure under which children from class one to five were studying had become death trap necessitating the construction of an ’emergency classroom’.

Hon. Isaac who called on Yagbon News to make the appeal, said the school, has started loosing its pupils due to lack of classroom block.

The Assemblyman said the community, in collaboration with the school’s Parent Teacher Association, put up a temporary structure which was ripped off by rainstorm and had become a death trap and hence called for quick response from the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba District Assembly.

He said he had written letters to the ‘authorities’ to no avail and expressed worry that until something is done before school reopens next academic year some of the children might not come back to the school.

Already the population of the pupils of the pupils has reduced and I think we need an urgent classroom block to motivate the rest of the pupils to stay back in school, he told Yagbon News.
