Assembly Women Caucus of Savannah Region mark International Women’s Day

The Savannah Regional Assembly women caucus has organized women in Bole to celebrate this year’s International women’s Day.

The program was in Collaboration between the NALAG Women Caucus and NALAG.

International women’s Day was set on 8th March by UN to celebrate and create awareness on the role and Impact of women .

As part of the celebration across Ghana, the Savannah Regional Assembly women Caucus organized queen mother’s,women from various communities and traders to commensurate the day.

Addressing the media, the Assembly member for Mandari Electoral area Hon Memunatu Mahama said the celebration was imperative considering their roles in the family and the society.

Responsibilities in the home she said should not be put only in the hands of men in the twenty first century.

Hon Memunatu stress that men and women can never be equal but where there is equity women should be given the equal opportunity to shine

She lamented how our young girls see themselves as vulnerable leading them to teenage pregnancy thereby trancuting their future ambitions.

Hon Zaynab Alhassan the Assembly member for Mankargu electoral area in the North Gonja District said it is very sad that only two women are from the Caucus in Savannah Region .

She pleaded with the entire Savannah Region to consider women in the next election in order to increase their number.

Speaking to the Media Queen mother Kalba Wurche Mariama Natomah said women are their own enemies adding that during competition for position the women quickly jump to the side the male against their gender.

She said the women know their sickness yet are not ready to treat it she added by saying women should support each other to treat this sickness.

Kalbawurche said women must know that everyone cannot be a leader so those charismatic ones must be supported but unfortunately women don’t see themselves as such.

The motivational speaker said the young ladies should look on them and the successful women must also mentor the young ladies around them for the future .

If you a young lady you must be the ambitious and shy but confident but not to be vulnerable.

Other speakers included the Presiding Member for Bole District Assembly,the NCCE Director among others.
