severe rainstorm on Tuesday hit Yipala and Setiepor in the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region and destroyed about 40 houses and rendered a number of people homeless.
The storm ripped off the roofs of about 40 houses and destroyed property worth several millions of cedis. There were, however, no casualties.
According to Mr Raphael Kulah, Assemblyman for Yipala, the storm hit the communities when most of the people were at their farms.
He appealed to the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba Assembly and the District Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to come to the aid of the victims.
Most of the victims in the two communities are currently staying with friends and relatives.
