Assembly members of the Bole District in the Savannah Region, have appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), to fill the potholes and repair the damaged portions of the Bole-Bamboi Highway.
They warned of possible accidents if immediate steps were not taken by the authorities.
The Assembly members from the southern part of the District classified the Bole- Bamboi Highway, as “a death trap”.
The Assembly members made the comment during the first ordinary meeting of the 8th Assembly of the Bole District held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, expressed their fears when travelling on that road.
They noted that the tarred portion of the road had developed deep potholes, which does not augur well for drivers and commuters of the road, the Assembly member for Jama Electoral Area, Hon. Jacob Pambo stressed on.
The Assembly members appealed to the Ghana High Authority to as matter of urgency fix the Bole- Bamboi Highway to avert loss of lives.
Mr Adam Hudu, Assembly member for Tinga said that if the situation is not addressed immediately, coupled with the on-going rains, the Bole-Bamboi Highway would not only be rendered impassable, but also completely cut off especially after Wasipe.
In a reaction to the concerns of the Assembly members, the DCE for the area, Hon.veronica Alele Heming said that the Assembly had written to the headquarters of the sector ministry in Accra but haven’t heard anything from them yet.
She equally expressed worry at the spate at which accidents occur on the highway which she admitted that the it must be fixed to avert further accidents and loss of lives.
