Reconstruction of a temporary bridge has begun at the collapsed bridge at Doli on the major road that links the Upper West Region and Southern Ghana .

This came to light when the Deputy minister of Roads and Highways
Hon. Thomas Mbomba and his entourage visited the area on Wednesday, September 26,2023.

A dam in Doli, a farming community in the Bole District of the Savannah Region got flooded following a heavy rain on Sunday September 17,and spilled over the banks to cause the collapse of the bridge.

Addressing the media Hon Mbomba said the sector minister was in Doli after hearing the incident and made a promise to the users of the N12 Road that emergency works will be done within a week.

Upon his return the minister was later briefed by engineers on site that the water levels are still high due to the continued rains and that there was nothing they could do but wait till the water levels go down untill three days ago it was better to start work.

The Deputy Minister pleaded with the resident of Bole and Sawla for that matter Savannah region to be patient and within a spate of one week the work would be done.

He said the minister would have been there to access the progress of work but other equal important duty needed his attention.

He said the entire government machinery in the road ministry is here to see the progress work and that shows the importance government attached to the project.

The Savannah Regional minister Hon Saeed Muazu Jibril expressed his gratitude to the roads ministry.

He reteireted the cause for delay to the pressure and depth level of the water.

The Regional Minister also said the engineers didn’t have a boat to do proper assessment that also caused the delay and was optimistic that they will finish the temporary bridge in one week time.
