Bole District Hospital appeals for generator.

The Bole District Hospital is making a passionate appeal to benevolent organizations and individuals for a power plant for the hospital.

The one currently at the facility has been decommissioned for years now.

Speaking to Yagbon News, the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Nindow Alphonsus said the hospital is bedevilled with challenges, chief among them is the lack of a power plant to serve as a backup to the main grid electricity.

Dr Nindow added that internally generated funds from the facility weren’t enough to acquire a new power plant and undertake many other critical activities.

The power outages he says have made it difficult to work especially now that the medical system is paperless.

“We as a District hospital, are bedevilled with a lot of challenges, but the topmost is power outages. We have a generator set, but it is defunct. Most of the parts are worn out and we can’t get them on the market to buy. So, it means that we need to replace it”.

He added that the Bole hospital mortuary which is the only mortuary in the enclave has been closed down after the management of the Hospital cited challenges with the physical structure.

According to him , the structure is very old and weak with cracks all over it, both in the inner and outer parts hence, can no longer accommodate corpses.

Dr. Nidow Alfonsus bemoaned the wretched nature of the facility adding that his outfit over the years had tried to sustain it with its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) but that has been insufficient.

“Currently, the structure that houses the mortuary is in a very deplorable state and needs major renovation and that is beyond the ability of the hospital because it’s quite capital intensive and the mortuary’s fridge has also broken down beyond repairs.

He iterated that since its construction in 1974, the Bole hospital mortuary has not seen any major renovation.

He, therefore, called on all relevant stakeholders and community members to support the institution.
