The Chief of Tuna, Tunawura Daniel Sarfo Amantana and his elders have appealed to government to upgrade the Tuna health centre to a polyclinic status.

He said the population of the area has increased but the facility could not perform certain crucial functions to meet the growing needs.

Tunawura made the appeal on Monday October 10, 2022, when the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia paid him a visit at his palace in his two- day working tour in the Savannah Region.

He also implored upon authorities in charge of the school feeding project to increase the quota for the Tuna and adjoining communities.

Chief Daniel Amantana pleaded for the upgrading of Tuna grid to two phases as the community is currently using only one phase.

He also mentioned the construction of Tuna town roads and equipping the community police station to manage crime some of their immediate concerns.

The Chief also urged the government to work on the Bamboi-Wa road as it in a deplorable state.

Addressing the people of Tuna the Vice President promised to give the police station a pickup by the end of Tuesday 11th October 2022, and a police station in Gindabour to improve police visibility in the area.

He said the Sawla- Tuna- Kalba District has 52 communities which a consultant will be coming to work on the connecting them to the national grid.

He said government have constructed some boreholes in Soma, Kulmasa, among other five communities in the District and still to do more.

He said plans are far advanced to upgrade the Tuna health centre to a polyclinic status.

According to him the Nana Addo Government cannot boast of doing all but they all working to develop the region.

The Vice President later in the day commissioned a water system for the people of Tuna by 4WARD an NGO operating in the Savannah Region.

The Project is in collaboration with USAID, Global Communities and 4 WARD.
