Chief Wants Overstayed Police Officers In Bole District Transferred.

The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso (l), has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) through the Savannah Regional Police Commander to transfer all police officers who have stayed in the Bole District for more than four years.

He indicated that some of the Police officers had become ‘familiar’ with the residents, for which reason they are not able to clamp down hard on incidents of criminal activities in the area.

He said criminals were operating in his traditional area with impunity, and the police were becoming less helpful.

The chief made the request when he held a stakeholders meeting on Monday, September 12, 2022, at his palace to unravel the the root cause of recent killings within his area.

The Chief urged the police to restore public confidence to enable them collectively fight crime in the area.

Bolewura said the only way for the police to restore its public image was to restore public confidence.

The Savannah Regional Police 2IC DCOP Faakye Kumi at the meeting said he agrees with the concerns raised by the Chief and the youth of the town to a larger extent but however not happy with the threats and ultimatums issued.

He said murder cases are complex to deal with so the security needs a lot of time to unravel their investigations.

DCOP Kumi said said they don’t have to be telling the public every step they get to but only when they are done with their investigations.

The Bole District has been thrown into fear and panic following recent killings in the area.

There has been a number of such mysterious deaths in the Bole  and Sawla communities since the beginning of the year with some of the victims having some parts of their bodies removed.
