Bolewura Sarfo Kutugefeso (l), the Paramount Chief of Bole Traditional Area and Chairman of Eminent Chiefs supervising the ban on illegal logging,  burning of charcoal in commercial quantities and illegal mining activities has said the Regional House of Chiefs has rescinded its decision that gave loggers one month ultimatum to convey uncollected logs out of the Savannah Region.

The press conference was in reaction to a petition presented by a youth group called Concerned Youth for Sustainable Development  to the overlord of the Yagbon kingdom, His Royal Majesty Yagbon Wura Tuntumba Bore Essa I.

On July 05, 2021, the Eminent Chiefs in-charge of the ban on burning charcoal and logging activities held a press conference in Bole giving a one – month window for loggers to have their wood logs in the bush conveyed out of the Region.

The press conference generated mixed reactions from citizens of the Region with a lot registering their displeasure on the decision by the House of Chiefs.

In a Press conference held today July 09, 2021 by Bolewura Sarfo Kutege Feso I, said after  a broader deliberations between he Bolewura, Buipewura Jinapor II and the overlord they agreed that  their decision be rescinded.

Bolewura said with today Friday 9th July 2021 press conference supercedes the 5th July directive.

He also said Minister of Lands and Natural Resource, National Security and all stakeholders are against logging and for that matter no logging shall be allowed in the Savannah Region.

“If your logs are still in the bush then you allow them to rot because you seized  to own them from today, this action will vindicate me and my committee members that we did not take bribe to influence that decision”, he indicated.
