Bolewura, Sarfo Kutugefeso ( I ) joins campaign to restore Ghana’s vegetation cover.

Bolewura, Sarfo Kutugefeso l, and his Council has joined the campaign of planting trees to ensure sustainability of the country’s forest cover under a policy dubbed Green Ghana Project.

Under the project by the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry, the Bole District has targeted planting one hundred thousand trees which saw the Bole Traditional Area lead by Bole Wura received six hundred seedlings to be planted as a commitment to the project the Green Ghana.

Addressing Chiefs and Queen mothers,at his Palace on June 11, 2021 at the launch of the project, Bolewura said every chief within his jurisdiction of rule should plant ten trees in his area and entreat them to take good care of the trees to create public awareness for the need to plant trees.

He however, together with the District Forestry Manager planted the some trees at his palace to the mark the exercise of planting trees to make Ghana Green nationwide.

Mr Rafiu Sumaila, the Bole District Forestry Commission manager who was at the Chief palace to observe the day urged all the Chiefs and Queen mothers to support the project as he said planting of the trees will help replenish the lost vegetation as a result of degradation.

Saying the hot nature and absence of rain is as a result of the lost vegetation and that echoed that when the last tree dies the last man dies and that the people of Savannah Region especially Bole Traditional Area should do well not to derail the effort of ensuring a green environment.

The Green Ghana project under the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources is expected to plant five million tree across the country which takes effect today, June 11, 2021.
