Bole Traditional Area to plant 100,000 trees under Green Ghana project.

The Bole Traditional Area , through the Forestry Commission under the ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is to plant 100,000 trees to mark world forest day.

Mr. Rafiu Sumaila, Bole District Director of the Forestry Commission disclosed this to Bole Traditional Council on Friday 30th April, 2021 at Bole Wura’s palace during a consultative forum held to take steps to combat illegal activities thus; illegal mining, logging and burning of charcoal in commercial basis in the area.

Mr. Sumaila said under the project dubbed Green Ghana ,5million trees are expected to be planted in the whole Ghana to mark the world forest day.

He said the project will give us the opportunity to create wood logs in our various communities for commercial purposes instead of depending on our natural cover.

He said chiefs in the various communities should adopt this project and in the near future they can still do commercial charcoal burning and wood logging from this artificial wood logs.

Speaking to Yagbon News Mr. Sumaila said Government has seen the long depletion of our vegetation for either construction among other therefore the need to replace the forest.

He said it is to mark World Forest Day on 11th June 2021 and then called on all to support the project as its benefits are ernomous.
