Vodafone Ghana service provider in partnership with Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has extended its mobile telephone service coverage to two communities in the Bole District under a Rural Telephony project.

Under the partnership, Vodafone Ghana is the service provider whilst GIFEC acquires all land permits for sites supplies infrastructure and maintenance support.

The Rural Telephony project is part of efforts being made to achieve universal mobile telephone service coverage throughout Ghana, and increase telephone subscribership to as many citizens as possible.

The beneficiary communities of the project are Maluwe and Chache.

Commenting on the project, the District Chief Executive madam Veronica Alele Heming said “I am excited that through strong collaboration with GIFEC and Vodafone Ghana impact on advancing rural telephony in Bole is made possible.

Hon. Veronica said since assumption of office a good number of communities have been hooked up to network connectivity which include Mankuma, Dikpa, Dakurpe and Carpenter.

“Through my efforts, a number of communities have gotten network with the latest being Maluwe and Chache”, she told Abdul Fatawu Diwura during Yagbon Radio morning show on July 13, 2020.

She added that Sonyo, Jama, Chobrinyo and Tesilma are the next communities in the District yet to be connected to a network which she said she will work hard to achieve that.

Assembly Member for Maluwe Electoral area, Mr Seidu Abdul Rahaman in an interview with Yagbon Radio said residents of his electoral area could not hide their joy as they can make calls with easiness and transact other businesses with the network.

The Assembly Member commended the Bole District Assembly and the DCE for helping them out from the challenge of network which has been with them for several years.

But in a reaction to the facilitation of the project, the Member of the Parliament for the area Hon.Yussif Sulemana (Ori), told Yagbon Radio on the same morning show that, the DCE has no knowledge about the extension of the network to Maluwe and its surroundings and hence cannot claim credit for it.

“I made all the necessary arrangement’s towards the network extension in Maluwe, Mankuma and Dakurpe and am looking forward to the authorities concerned to do same extension to the rest of the areas such as Babator, Sonyo,  Chorinyo and Telsilma which are not having network currently “, the MP indicated.
