The Electoral Commission (EC), in the Bole District of the Savannah Region has begun the second phase of the voters registration on Sunday, July 12.

District Director of the EC Isaac Gyeduah, made this known in an interview with Yagbon Radio morning show host Abdul Fatawu Diwura on Monday, July 13, 2020.

According to him, “a new phase has started on Sunday 12th July and is expected to end on Friday 17th July 2020.

Mr Gyeduah said the first phase of batch one and batch two of the ongoing registration exercise has largely been very successful as the commission has registered about 12,000 in the Bole- Bamboi constituency.

He indicated that “the performance of the registration officials keeps on improving daily especially the speed and accuracy of the Data Entry Clerks.”

“The satisfactory performance of the registration teams is evident in the daily registration figures recorded at the various centres”, he added.

Most registration teams are able to register an average of 100 applicants per day per centre with some recording more than that a day according to him.

The Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits have largely worked perfectly as expected, he said.

Covid-19 Protocols

According to him, generally the adherences to the COVID-19 protocols have improved and are being observed at some registration centres.

“It is relieving to observe that applicants at some of the registration centres are steadily and progressively wearing face masks and also keeping to the social distance protocols”.

However, he noted that the same cannot be said in other centres where observing social distancing still remains a challenge.

He said the fight against covid-19 pandemic is a collaborative responsibility and urged all potential registrants to abide by the protocols in safeguarding themselves against the virus.
