The Bole District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has cautioned persons who live in flood-prone areas to take precautions as the rains set in.
The District Director of NADMO, Kipo Sulemana in a Yagbon Radio interview said his outfit will do its best to ensure that lives and properties are protected as we journey into the raining season.
Mr. Kipo bemoaned that buildings in Bole town are not properly planned and warned that if care is not taken the town may be hit by flood in the future as the raining season has just begun.
Residents of Bole on Tuesday June, 9, 2020, experienced a torrential rainfall for 7 hours which has brought fears among the residents as they begin to speculate the consequences of floods.
Parts of the country’s capital was affected as a result of the Tuesday’s downpour as properties worth thousand Ghana cedis got submerged as a result of the flood.
Meanwhile the Ghana Meteorological Services has warned of heavy rainfall in the country this year.
Ghana’s metropolises have had to contend with flooding in the rainy season because of poor planning and a weak drainage network.
The government has in the past said an estimated $523 million is needed to permanently deal with the perennial flooding in Accra and other parts of the country.
