Police will not allow you to smuggle fertilizer – Mr Galaa.

Sawla Tuna Kalba District Director of Agriculture Mr. Martin Galaa said if Police do their work well, they will not allow fertilizer meant for Planting for Food and Jobs to be smuggled out of any Region or Ghana.

Mr Galaa disclosed this to Yagbon Radio during a radio discussion which is made possible by the generous support of the American people through the the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Feed the Future NGG Activity led by CARE International in Ghana, SEND Ghana, ActionAid and WANEP-Ghana on the sensitization of covid-19 and the 2020 planting for food and jobs policy by the government of Ghana.

Mr. Galaa explained that when a distributer picks the fertilizers from MOFA in Accra, they are given codes and a way bill to a specific Region and District.

The District will first submit the way bill at Regional Minister’s office for endorsement and submit the same way bill to the specific District Chief Executive for further endorsement before the front desk of the specific District Department of Agric.

With this stringent measure one cannot smuggle fertilizer because the Police will not allow you to pass with a wrong way bill.

He further added that, NABCO staff are also at the distribution point with registered data of Farmers who are to pick their fertilizer to ensure that a farmer doesn’t pick more than the required number.

He encourage farmers to take advantage of this flagship program by Government to grow more food and jobs for themselves.

We should all support Government to implement the PFJ so that government will not lose revenue, he said.

He again encouraged the police to make sure no one smuggle fertilizer out of any Region or District without the right way bill.

TUWODEP Manager, for the District Mr. Raphael Ali Yenbapono also said this year’s program is targeted at women in agriculture and therefore encourage them to be part of this program for food security.
