The annual Bole wura, Sarfo Kutuge Feso (l), Science & Maths Quiz was launched at Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge on Wednesday, September 28, with all Junior High Schools within the Bole Traditional Area competing for the coveted title.
In a speech at this year’s launch of the competition, Bolewura said without education in this era a society is doomed and said it is sad that Savannah Region is not doing well interms of education.
He however said that the quiz competition will offer an opportunity to all to know what efforts teachers and stakeholders within the traditional can put across to improve upon the performance of education in the area.
The Bole District Director of education Mr Sulemana Yahaya who was present at the launch was grateful to Bolewura and his traditional council for the initiative.
He said the actions of Bolewura in the education sector is a call on all stakeholders within the sector to wake up in their duties.
He said for a traditional area to initiate such an activity in education sector tells the handlers that they need to do more and urged students to proof to Bolewura that all the investment he is making in will not be in vain.
Mrs Abiba Bakari, District Director of education for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba said when she saw the letter inviting her for such an activity she said was overwhelmed.
She said Savannah Region won fourth position in the national reading competition recently in Accra and hence with this initiative from Bolewura we can do better.
She called on the girl child to be determined not to drop out of school but focus on their strength.
Mr James Dziwornu , manager of Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge, said they started the program last year to mark the Damba festival but are very glad that Bolewura has now become an ambassador of the project
He wished all competing school the best of luck in the contest.
The MP for Bole-Bamboi constituency, Hon. Yusif Sulemana said there couldn’t be any right time for such an activity than now.
He said the standard of education in the Region has reduced and there’s the need for all hands on deck to help the improve upon performance of education in the Region.
He pledged that at appropriate time he will call on Bolewura to make his Donation towards the course.
The Kutuge Feso Damba Maths and Science quiz was initiated last year with sponsorship from Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge.
However 2022 edition has also received support from Bui power Authority.
