The President’s Nominee as Chief Executive for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Mr Karim Musa Kusubari, on Thursday September 30, 2021, received 100 per cent approval from the Assembly Members.

All 17 Assembly Members voted yes in approval of his nomination as MCE for the West Gonja municipal which hosts the Savannah regional capital, Damongo.

According to the Local Government Law, MMDCE nominees must secure at least a two-thirds majority of valid votes cast to gain the approval of the Assembly.

However, the incumbent North- Gonja District Chief Executive (DCE), Adam Eliasu alias Red Bawa in the same region who has been re-nominated for another term by President Akufo Addo has received an overwhelming 100 per cent endorsement from members of the assembly.

After the voting on September 30, all 22 of the total 22 members who turned up to vote, voted yes for the president’s nominee.

The announcement of the results by the electoral officers in both districts was met with  spontaneous jubilation by the assembly members, party supporters and members of the general public who thronged the venues to witness the event.

The remaining five MDA’s are also expected to conduct elections in the coming days to either confirm or reject the president’s nominees.
