The ruling New Patriotic Party of the Savannah Region has held its annual delegates conference at Daboya on 1st October, 2021.
The Regional Chairman during his welcome address tauted the achievements of his Executives board in the run up to the 2020 general elections.
Prof. Kalimonia noted that there is no Region in the country that has increased the party’s parliamentary seats by addition two or more in the 2020 presidential elections except the Savannah Region.
“During the 2012 general elections, the party had no seat in the Region, the party won only the Salaga South parliamentary seat during the 2016 election but by the collective effort of the NPP Executives board in the Savannah region we have won three seats in the 2020 general elections and enviably the only region to have increased the party’s seats by two among all other regions in the country”, he said.
“The battle wasn’t won by the efforts of only stakeholders but out of unity and purpose and should be consolidated through same efforts to acquire additional seats”, he added.
However, Prof. Kalimonia noted that the region is facing up with several challenges most especially youth unemployment and therefore calls for the intervention of the national Executives board to help address this challenges.
The General Secretary of the NPP Mr. John Boadu, speaking at the event noted that the Damongo constituency has been a strong hold of the NPP whiles the Daboya seat has keenly been contested by the NPP but out of hardwork of stakeholders in the Region those seats including the Salaga South Parliamentary has been won by the NPP in the 2020 general elections.
He noted that it is out of this hard work that the MP for the Daboya-Mankragu constituency Hon. Alhaji Asei Seini has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Health even as a first time member of parliament and that the region should hope to get more appointments in as much as the NPP in the region win more seats for the party.
He therefore calls on party faithfuls to be steadfast and to work in unity as the party continuously work to resource the various constituencies in the region for more victories ahead.
