The organising committee of the now famous Bole District Juvenile Volleyball Gala Competition has announced that the 13th edition of the well -known grassroots volleyball gala in Mandari will commence on Saturday 16th September and on Sunday September 17 2023.
However teams are expected to arrive at Mandari on Friday September 15 2023.
The decision was reached at a meeting held in the conference room of Yagbon Radio. All eight teams were represented except Maluwe Volleyball Club.
Juvenile Volleyball teams comprising under 10 boys, under 13 boys and girls, and under 15 boys and girls categories from Seripe, Kilampobile, Simariyiri, Dabouyiri, Gbogdaa Makumah will join host Mandari to battle one another for the trophies.
The competition which begun in December 2020 with just 4 teams with two categories takes place every three months .
In an interview shortly after the draw the organising Secretary Mr Osman Issahaku aka Champion revealed that despite lack of adequate support, team managers of the various teams have managed to continuously organise this novel competition aimed at nurturing volleyball talents at the grassroot level. “We strive not to truncate this good initiative “, He said.
Champion also revealed that the committee is compelled to levy each team a participation fee of 50.00 to purchase a new trophy. He appealed to the general public to come to aid of the committee to continue with the good initiave that is beginning to bear fruits.
However, Mr Osman was quick to acknowledge the contribution from Yagbon Radio that has been the voice of the committee. “As for the manager and sports department of Yagbon Radio we can not thank them enough. The valuable air time and the comfortable space for our meetings is just great.” Champion acknowledged.
Mandari will be hosting the tournament for the second time in two years.
The host will once again try to win the boys under 15 category for the 4th time but the long ragging defending champions Seripe Mighty Fingers might just be too hard a nut for them to crake.
Meanwhile defending champions of the under 13 boys and girls categories as well as the under 15 girls Gbogdaa Volleyball Academy will fight tooth and nail to defend all their trophies but returning former multiple champions Simariyiri might snatch away the under 15 girls trophy whiles young Kilampobile will seek to improve their performance this time around.
Makumah Jakpa warriors having added workaholic Aziz to their technical team will fancy their chances at the under 13 boys category but former champions Dabouyiri Risky Volleyballers might also not be pusher overs.
All roads should therefore lead to Mandari come September 15-17 2023.
