The Tuna Women Development Project, (TUWODEP), has on Thursday 15th January, 2026 organized a project inception meeting for key stakeholders on peace and security in the district.

The project inception meeting titled: “Unity for Development; the Kong Peace Empowerment Initiative” funded by the Reconciliation Resources of United
Kingdom with NORTHCODE- Ghana as the coordinating organization (NGO) in Northern Ghana.

Mr. Louis Kuuyebr, the finance and operation lead for Tuna Women Development Project TUWODEP, speaking to Yagbon News stated that TUWODEP is one of the organizations sub contacted to implement the KAPOK project.

Mr. Louis added that the project objective is to promote peace and security in three communities Kong, Nambenna and Gindabour in the Sawla Tuna Kalba district with the ultimate objective of enhancing and or fostering peaceful coexistence among community members, neighboring communities, minority groups and also to prevent violent extremist groups infiltration in communities.

Our ultimate aim is to make sure that there is peace and security and everybody leaves his or her life in a peaceful atmosphere.

“So today’s meeting is a project inception with key Stakeholders like Traditional rulers, district assembly staff, key government staff, assembly members, women groups and youth groups.
In the meeting TUWODEP presented to them ( key stakeholders ) the details of the project and what is expected of the various key stakeholders in the implementation of the project and also to get to know stakeholders expectations for future management, and to get their buy-in of the project implementation”.

Stakeholders were excited about the project and they have commended us for the work they are doing in the communities, and they appealed to us (the NGO) to upscale this wonderful project in other communities anytime they get additional funding.

The District Assembly was also excited and they have promised to incorporate some of the activities that are part of this project into their Medium Term Development Plan that they’re almost about to complete.

“We are excited about the collaboration TUWODEP has received from the stakeholders/partners and we look forward to a successful implementation of this project in the district.”

The project is a small grant project to be implemented within five (5) months duration.

It started in November 2025 and it’s ending in March 2026.
