The Sawla -Tuna- Kalba Assembly in the Savannah Region has cut sod for the construction of several development projects aimed at improving the quality of education as well as access to potable water in the District.

The sod cutting exercise, which took place at various Electoral Areas, reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to inclusive development across the District.

The projects include the construction of a 1No. 3-Unit Classroom Block at Sanyeri,
Construction of a 1No. 3-Unit Kindergarten Classroom Block at Gindabour.

Others are rehabilitation of a 6-Unit Classroom Block at Sawla Senior High School, extension of the Sawla Water System (6 Standpipes), Drilling and Construction of 8 boreholes,
Completion of a 1No. 3-Unit Classroom Block at Blema and construction of a Solar-powered mechanized water system at Nyange-Kura.

The Sawla -Tuna- Kalba District Chief Executive (DCE), Sinkina Saaka, was joined by heads of departments, assembly members, traditional leaders, stakeholders and residents of beneficiary communities to assist him in the sod-cutting ceremony.

Addressing the gathering at the event, the DCE, Mr Saaka, noted that the symbolic sod-cutting represented not just the beginning of construction of the facilities but a renewal of hope for the residents within the District, noting that ‘’these are direct responses to your needs expressed during community engagement and durbars.”

The DCE charged the various contractors to do their work with professionalism, urgency and integrity.

’You are building not just an infrastructure but hope and opportunities for generations yet unborn and therefore the quality and level of commitment and dedication you apply to these projects would directly shape the future and well-being of these communities,” he stated.
