Kunfusi is a rural community in Ghana’s Savannah Region.
Access to medical care is very limited, particularly for women and pregnant women.
The existing Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) facility was inadequately equipped and did not include a dedicated women’s ward or accommodation for medical staff.
As a result, residents often faced long travel distances, delayed treatment, and increased health risks.
As result of that HiChale , a Kalba based NGO together with the District Health Directorate, traditional authorities, partners, and the people of the Kunfusi zone has officially performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of a health block towards the upgrade of the Kunfusi CHPS compound into a Health Centre-level facility.
The project will provide improved healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, and outreach support services for over 5000 direct target population and over 10000 extended population across the Kunfusi subdistrict.
This intervention is being supported by the Diocese of Münster through our partners Aktionskreis Pater Hagen e.V. and RÜT’N’ROCK FESTIVAL in Germany.
This project represents an investment of approximately GHS 676,000 towards improving healthcare access and reducing emergency referrals, especially for mothers and children.
The project is a direct response to the needs expressed by the CHPS staff and the people of Kunfusi, and we are happy that today marks the beginning of this important journey, the Managing Director of Hichale Mr Dery Kusaani Emmanuel told the gathering.
Hon. Osman Latif , Assemblyman of the area together with the Chief of the community assured Hichale of their support in the smooth execution of the project.
