The Member of Parliament of the Sawla- Tuna- Kalba Constituency, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey is appealing to the general public to come to the aid of the Sawla Senior High School after a fire outbreak destroyed the school’s dormitories.
The fire has left hundreds of students loosing their properties to the inferno.
According to the Member of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey who visited the school on November 14,2022, to assess the extent of damage, said the school was already in dire need of infrastructure .
According to the MP, properties belonging to the students such as mattresses, books, buckets, uniforms among others were consumed by the fire.
“I am however consoled by the fact that no student was hurt”, he stated.
The MP therefore appeals to individuals, NGOs, and the government to come to the aid of the student by providing them with some relief items.
Background.
Fire recently gutted the girls’ dormitory of the Sawla Senior High School (SHS).
The incident reportedly occurred at about 11:00 am on Wednesday with the cause yet to be established.
This follows a fire outbreak at the school on October 26, 2022.
However, the timely intervention of the Sawla Fire Command prevented the fire which could have burnt down the entire dormitory.
There was no casualty reported in the process, however, three rooms of the dormitory and their entire contents were lost to the inferno.
