The Member of Parliament for Sawla- Tuna-Kalba Constituency in the Savannah Region has presented 60 street lights to be shared among six communities in the constituency to combat insecurity.

The beneficiary communities are ; Kulmasa, Yipala, Tuna, Nahari, Kunfugsi and Kalba.

The donation was made as part of efforts to significantly improve the security system in the Constituency.

According to Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, security has been a major challenge for the Constituency for some time, and there is a need to implement stringent measures to address it.

“All those who have followed this Constituency since the inception of the 1992 democratic dispensation, will attest to the fact that security, has been one of the biggest nightmares in the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba Constituency,” he told Yagbon News in an interview.

He cautioned residents to take personal security seriously and not rely solely on security agencies to help reduce the spate of crime in the area.

The MP indicated that he is much committed to promoting the security affairs of his constituents.

A resident of Kalba who spoke to Yagbon News said the donation came as a huge relief as the community was in desperate need of the street lights.

According to him, the street lights will go a long way toward combating crime throughout the community.

He commended the MP for the donation.

He said that the move will significantly help to reduce crime in the Kalba community as the darkest parts of the community would be light up.
