Savannah Football Tournament To Kick- Off On 3rd January.

The Executive Committee of the Savannah Football Tournament has announced January 3rd as the starting date for the 2022 edition of the tournament.

The tournament which will be played among community teams will be hosted by Kalba in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah region.

In all 32 teams would compete in the opening round of matches with 16 teams set to enter the competition in the round of 64.

Mr. Lazarus Vurmah San, Executive Committee Secretary speaking to Yagbon News on Thursday said that this season’s competition would witness some memorable moments and urged fans to patronize all matches.

“Let’s brace ourselves for an exciting, compelling, highly entertaining and a passionate Savannah Football competition this season and we intend to unleash a grassroots campaign for this season’s competition.

“This year’s competition is a special one due to our desire to unearth hidden soccer talents in the region and the campaign has been packaged to offer memorable moments for all that wiil make it to Kalba and I urge fans to patronize the matches when they begin,” he said.

Mr Lazarus is therefore appealing to the general public to support the tournament by donating in kind or cash to see the full realization of the tournament objective of unearthing potential hidden talents in the Savannah Region.

The maiden edition of the tournament was held in 2019 at Kakiase with Naafaa emerging as the winners where as the 2020 edition was held at same venue and won by Soguooyiri, currently the defending champions.
