The President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufu Addo on Monday paid a working visit to Savannah region. His first point of stop was courtesy call on the Paramount chief of Kpembi Traditional area.
The president inspected an ongoing town water project in Salaga and was impressed with the progress of work.
The president also cut sod for the Bonjai – Fufulso and was optimistic that the road will ease the time of Traveling in the region.
The president proceeded to Kpelbi where He graced a durbar of chiefs and people of North East Gonja District.
In his welcome address, the Paramount chief of Kpanshegu Traditional area Yiram Abudu described the visit as a historic one because today marks exactly one year since the birth of the district. Yiram Abudu said they are grateful to the president for being part of his government flagship program 1D1F, 1V1D, PFJ and the FSHS. Yiram said the people of North-East will be forever remains grateful to the government for given them a district.
Chief Yiram Kpanshegu Wura however appealed to the president and his ministers to use their good offices to attend to some important needs of the district including a district Hospital, a Senior High school to directly benefit FSHS at the comfort of their home.
Yiram also appealed to the president to consider working on certain roads in the new distric under his critical road policy and portable water. He described the President as a father who is committed to changing the lives of his people.
Addressing the chiefs and people of the Kpanshagu Traditional area, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufu Addo said the visit is to see what is going on the ground after a whole year of work in the office. He admitted that Savannah region is dear to his heart for that matter the first to visit.
H. E Nana Addo teasingly said when he said the match tout road of erstwhile Government was propaganda he was being told that he is sleeping in his car that is why he can’t see the roads but that is the reality.
The commander in chief of the Ghana armed forces said he might not be a son of Gonja but coming from kyebi, could have done what their son from Bole-Bamboi couldn’t do.
The President and flag bearer of the Governing new patriotic party said he is convinced that the rousing welcome will be replicated in the ballot box come December, 7, 2020.
He was escorted by some ministers who assured the people north East Gonja district that their desires would be addressed appropriately. The president will continue his tour to the Upper West Region.
