Inhabitants of Yipala in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region who were rendered homeless following a rainstorm have received support from their Member of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey.

The victims, mostly farmers, were given 30 bags of cement, 32 Packets of roofing sheets.

The community was hit by a storm recently resulting in the destruction of several buildings.

The storm also took the life of a middle aged man who was taking shelter under a tree in his house.

The MP on hearing the devastating news, rushed to the scene to see at first-hand the extent of damage and to also console the bereaved family. He was alarmed by the level of destruction and determined to do something about it.

Presenting the items, he said that he was presenting his widow’s mite to them but also calling on government and other NGOs to come to the aid of the people affected. He made it known that the storm also affected Saru, Kulwong, Gando, Seutiepuo, and Kong communities.

In view of that, he has devoted an amount of sixty thousand Ghana cedis (GH60,000.00) to support victims affected by the storm. The other communities will be receiving their relief packages in due course.

He urged leaders in the community not to politicise the donation since the calamity had no political colour.

The community, through the Assembly member, thanked the MP profusely for being the only light at the end of the tunnel.
