The Catholic Bishop of the Damongo Diocese, Paul Y. Ankyier has informed the people of Kong of plans to set up a prison training center and institute an educational scholarship package for the youth in the area.
He disclosed this in Kong on Monday, August 10, 2020, during a durbar that was organised by the chiefs and people of Kong on a road map of building a modern Kong Traditional Area.
The Bishop of Damongo Diocese said he has seen the peaceful coexistence of various tribes which is a sign of development for the area.
Bishop Ankyier added that, the Catholic church will build a church in Kong which is a request by the chief of the area.
The Bishop said the Catholic church since its inception has the aim of promoting education, health and environmental protection along side spiritual development.
Speaking to Yagbon Radio, the president of Community College and Organisational Development(CCOD), Dr Gabriel Gbuiel Bernakun said they have a five(5) year strategic plan with Jaksally and part of the plan is to establish a university to provide partial and full scholarship to young people in the area.
Schools and health facilities will be established to develop the young people to see a true reflection of the modern Kong Traditional Area, Bishop Ankyier added.
