Some communities in the Gbeniyiri Electoral Area of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District are being cut off from the rest of the district due to heavy rains, a resident of Dagbigu community Mr Awaye told Yagbon News on Sunday 12th September, 2021.

He lamented that more than 20 communities in the Gbeniyiri Electoral Area on early hours of Sunday could not be accessed due to the torrential rains in the area causing a bridge in the area to get flooded.

Mr Awaye further revealed hundreds of farmers are likely to lose their farm products as farmlands continue to be submerged in the water.

Information reaching Yagbon News indicated that communities around Gbeniyiri and its surrounding communities have been cut off from the district capital on the day of the community’s market day.

Mr Awaye in a telephone chat with Yagbon News said hundreds of vehicles and humans are left stranded as movement across the road is impossible because the entire bridge has been submerged by the flood.

He added that several roads in the District were no more accessible.

Mr Awaye, therefore, appealed to the authorities to, as matter of urgency, come to their aid as conditions “are worsening day in day out”, in the midst of heavy rainfall.
